The Rescue Emergency Care Scheme
The REC scheme was established in the 1980s to provide practical, innovative and progressive medical training. The scheme was the concept of Dr Bob Phillips, an A&E doctor and keen mountaineer. He fostered a group of trainers who were empowered to provide training under the scheme.
Over the past two decades the scheme has become well recognised in the outdoor industry as one of the best and most relevant First Aid training organisations.
REC is recognised by national governing bodies (RYA, BCU, MLTB) as a basic outdoor First Aid qualification for those working in the outdoors. However, anyone can attend as long as they are 18 years and over.
Expedition Wise provide a comprehensive range of REC first aid courses that combined with our in depth knowledge and experienced Trainers allows us to adapt and design the course content to meet your specific needs. The modular structure and careful design of the scheme benefits the inexperienced lay person, the outdoor enthusiast or the qualified medic embarking on a long expedition.
