Appointed Persons First Aid

No previous experience is required. This is a 6 hour, one day course for those persons working in an environment where there are other more qualified people you can call upon, or in an area with access to good communications. This can allow you to work as an “appointed person” at work. This mixes practical learning with scenarios of real situations. The basic First Aider can take control of an incident in the absence of a standard First Aider at Work. He/she can be the Appointed Person within the workplace and is able to cope with common medical occurrences.


Course content:

  • Intro – Health & safety, principles of first aid, vital signs
  • Emergency action – a methodical system to manage emergencies safely
  • Airway problems – recognising airway problems and managing the airway
  • Breathing problems – coping with choking
  • Circulation problems – serious bleeding
  • Deformities - bleeding, breaks and burns
  • Unconsciousness – collapsing, safe airway position
  • CPR – cardiopulmonary resuscitation, UK resuscitation guidelines

Emergency First Aid

No previous experience is required. This is a 16 hour, two day introduction to First Aid with applications into the workplace/outdoors. The course introduces basic First Aid skills and enables people to deal with initial treatment in more remote areas. The course is scenario based for practical improvisation and adaptability. A course for leaders, teachers and anyone working away from the office, that promotes awareness of delayed medical help and adverse environmental conditions. The course is recognised by most national governing bodies (RYA, BCU, MLTB) as the requirement for an outdoor First Aid qualification. This course can be adapted specifically for the client group and has many additional items within the course.

Paediatric First Aid

No previous experience is required. This is a 16 hour, two day introduction to First Aid with specific application to those working with children and babies. The course introduces basic First Aid skills and enables people to deal with initial treatment of injuries and childhood related illnesses. The course is scenario based for practical improvisation and adaptability. A course for teachers, teaching assistants, nursery workers, play group workers, child minders and anyone working with young children and babies. The course is nationally recognised by all Child Minding and Young Person Care Organisations as the requirement for a Paediatric First Aid qualification. This course can be adapted specifically for the client group and has many additional items within the course.

HSE First Aid at Work- now only 3 days!

No previous experience is required. This course is designed for candidates who work as First Aiders within the work place. It is an 18 hour, 3 day modular course with a 3 year validation for statutory and workplace needs. The course provides an introduction to a systematic method of First Aid for managing casualties and covers the HSE syllabus for First Aiders at work according to the '81 & '97 regulations, UK & European Guidelines. The HSE First Aider can take control of an incident until a nurse, doctor or ambulance arrives.

This course is for those who have already completed the 4 day HSE FAW course and need to update their 3 year qualification. The course takes place over 2 days and covers all the areas that were covered on the 4 day course, focusing upon basic treatments and CPR.
